A muffin

Oh my...it's just been so long! So much has been going on since my last post, but unfortunately, the blog has been simmering on the back burner.
I was recently in SC again, visiting family and enjoying the sunny weather. As I'm looking at the slushie rain that's pouring down outside, I'm wondering why I got on the plane back to Chicago! While I was visiting Omi and Opa, my aunt, uncle and two little cousins came to visit. It was the first time a got to meet Matthew and I think it was love at first sight. Cousin Sarah, doing a puzzle with Opa. Such a chunk! Happy little family. It's obvious who his favorite person is! My favorite Omi and Opa!

Canada

A few weeks back my mom and I traveled to Canada to visit our close friends, the Emmersons. Although, i'm still not quite sure why we chose to take this trip in the winter, we had fun and safe travels none the less! As it happens, Niagara Falls is just and hour from they're house so we took a short trip after church. It was short for two reasons. One, it was FREEZING and two, we had four sleepy kids with us. :) I felt sad that I had only one lens with me...but I made the best of it!

So, next to the Emmersons back yard lives a couple who had there son visiting from Germany. Unfortunately, from what I had heard, but not seen, he was a nomad with dreads down to his waist. He didn't want to impose on his parents by staying in their house, even though he was helping them while they were sick, so he came up with an interesting solution for himself. He constructed an igloo in the backyard. AN IGLOO!! Also, what I heard, but did not see, he had shelves, candles and even lights from the 'ceiling.'



Unfortunately for me I wasn't brave enough to walk over and knock on his flap so I watched and waited for him to emerge, camera ready, but much to my dismay, he did not. Contrary to that last sentence, i'm not some wierdo creeper. haha!

South Carolina :: Day 6

My last full day here!!! Sad day! I have loved being here and seeing Omi and Opa. I was not a happy camper being so far away and not knowing. Although he still has a long way to go, Opa is recovering nicely.

While I'm typing, Opa is working on a 100 piece puzzle. Go big or go home!! We worked on colors earlier.

South Carolina :: Day 5

I am currently sitting and watching the football game, Packers and Bears. I have always liked watching football, but have never felt that passionate about it, but for what ever the reason, I'm so nervous! Maybe it's because I'm from one of the rivaling states, or maybe that, even though I'm some 900 miles away from there, I can still feel tension in the air. Stress.

Putting all that aside! I just took a few shots today of some of my favorite people, (and their car :)

South Carolina :: Day 4

It always amazes me. We talk the night before about how the next day is wide open and relaxation will most likely monopolize it. No matter how many times that statement is made, the day magically fills, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so happy to be with my family and being able to support them in any way I can. These two mean an awful lot to me. :)



Even though it was a bit late, we celebrated Omi's birthday today. I was so excited for Omi to open her present that I forgot to photographer her doing it!
